Day 12 - Our Go-To Dinner

When it's one of those days (usually a Monday) when we're all dragging and whatever I planned to make for dinner doesn't grab me, our "go-to" dinner is Pasta and Trees -- adapted from a Rachel Ray recipe. It's super easy -- whole wheat rotini, fresh broccoli (cooked), a little butter, a little olive oil, and a heaping helping of grated parmesan cheese. No one ever complains about Pasta and Trees.

For some reason, I always serve it in the bowl-and-chopsticks sets I bought for the girls a couple of years ago. I LOVE these chopsticks! They're real chopsticks sized for kids, and the little rubber topper is nice and flexible. They work much more like the real thing than our Zoo Sticks do. Highly recommend them for anyone learning to use chopsticks. You can find them by googling Fred Chopstick Kids.

  1. I will have to look into those chopsticks. Kaizi has been asking for some that are easier to use.

  2. I'll have to look for some too for Lizzie.. Katie mastered chopsticks at 3, Lizzie though has had a harder time. And yes, that does look like something my kids would eat too with no complaints!

  3. Yum-O! I want to go make that right now! I actually make something very similar and I also stir in some cream cheese until it is melted and then add Parmessan.

  4. Gayle! My husband will not thank you for "introducing" me to Fred. Now I will have to make room for Fred stuff in my kitchen. It reminds me of Ikea, which I dearly love. There's a new Ikea opening in Charlotte (only an hour from me) next month and I can't wait! That's much closer than the one in Atlanta, which is three hours away.
